About the show
As a lifelong fan of Michael Jackson, I was initially skeptical about Michael Jackson ONE by Cirque du Soleil. I was afraid that the show would, somehow, ruin the legacy and image he left behind. However, the show was not what I had expected at all, but in a good way.
In simple words, Michael Jackson ONE did a great job of shedding light on his cultural impact and music that can literally heal the souls and lead the way.
Michael Jackson ONE keeps the signature vibe of every Cirque du Soleil show: dynamic acrobatics, dance moves using aerial skills, trampolines, and other circus equipment. But what makes it stand out from the rest of other shows is the smooth and perfectly reworked icon songs of Michael.
In Michael Jackson ONE, there is at least one misfit – people who can’t really fit in anywhere, that you will feel related to. Are you the misfit who fights so hard just to discover your true self? Or are you the misfit who dares to leave your fears behind to be a better version of yourself?
Telling you all about the show is a piece of cake. How about we save it, and let you enjoy the show on your own?
What we like
Everything has its hits and misses. Allow me to show you what Michael Jackson ONE did hit. A sincere bestowal of the one and only Michael Jackson. I mean, there are plenty of ways to express tribute to the King of Pop. However, the Cirque du Soleil show exhibits it in a respectful and yet, heartwarming way. The ever-stunning sound and visual effects of Cirque de Soleil shows.
There has to be a reason when mentioning shows of Cirque du Soleil, the first thing that pops into people’s minds is its iconic lighting, visual effects, and epic music composer. In Michael Jackson ONE, they hit it with exquisite renditions like “Billie Jean”, “Thriller”, and “Smooth Criminal”. The dance performance is just… phenomenal.
The show wouldn’t be completed if it lacked those awesome dance moves. It is like witnessing Michael’s legendary dance but in an energetic and cinematic environment. Words can’t barely describe the feeling I had when I saw the show. Definitely a must for Michael Jackson’s fans.
What we don’t like
Uh oh, as much as I don’t feel like it, here are the things that the show misses. Expensive. There is one fact that none of us can’t deny. Cirque du Soleil shows are expensive, and Michael Jackson ONE is not an exception. If you come to Vegas on a budget, my advice is to try to prioritize all the activities you want to attend and then make your choice.
Fan-tailored show. While fans will find Michael Jackson ONE is a not-to-miss-out-on activity, the vast majority of others don’t feel the same way. Cirque du Soleil offers tons of other amazing shows in a wide variety of concepts. Plus, Michael Jackson ONE is not the best-selling show.
Is Michael Jackson ONE by Cirque du Soleil worth watching?
Yes, even if you are a fan of Michael Jackson or just a music lover in general. There are very few shows out there that can smoothly combine pop music and cinematic shows. Not to mention this is one of the few shows that pay tribute directly to Michael Jackson’s talent and legacy.
The main theme of the show doesn’t come from any fantasy or magical world. It is a real person who lived and died a legend. If you come to Vegas for a wind of change, why not opt for Michael Jackson ONE and immerse in the musical world?
Is Michael Jackson ONE by Cirque du Soleil family-friendly?
Unfortunately, there are 2 age restrictions you need to comply with when watching Michael Jackson ONE. Children under the age of 5 are not allowed inside the theater. Guests below the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
