About the show
I had the absolute pleasure of seeing Shin Lim perform live, and let me tell you, it was nothing short of magical. With two-time winning the America’s Got Talent, seriously, this guy is on a whole different level when it comes to sleight-of-hand. I mean, his card tricks leave you questioning the very laws of physics.
Now, I’ll admit I had my doubts before the show. Close-up magic is awesome when you’re right in front of the magician, right? But how could it possibly work for a big crowd? Well, let me tell you, Shin Lim has cracked that code.
What’s more, to my surprise, he actually brings audience members on stage and interacts with them, so there’s no way it’s all staged! Well, at least that’s what I keep telling myself!
What I really loved was the theme of the show. It’s not just about the magic. It’s a whole vibe. Shin Lim’s performance weaves together stories of self-growth, reflection, and family, and the magic enhances these themes. It felt like more than just a show; it felt personal.
I won’t spoil too much because you should really experience it for yourself, but trust me, you’re in for a mind-bending time. I went in not expecting much, but I walked out completely wowed.

What we like
- Mind-blowing tricks: Shin Lim’s sleight-of-hand is on another level! I still can’t figure out how he made cards appear and disappear right before my eyes. It’s smooth, surreal, and truly magic.
- Audience participation: It’s always fun when you get pulled into the action. I loved how he interacted with the crowd, making each performance feel like a unique experience. I even got called up on stage for a trick (and no, I still don’t know how he did it!).
- High-tech magic: The use of high-definition cameras to capture every move and broadcast it to the entire audience is a game-changer. No matter where you’re sitting, you get to see every tiny detail of his performance up close. It’s like having a front-row seat, even from the back!
What we don’t like
- Choppy storytelling: Personally, I felt the back-and-forth between Shin Lim and Colin Cloud was confusing. One minute, you’re watching incredible card tricks, and the next, Colin’s doing mentalist bits. It felt like two separate shows mashed together, and neither got the spotlight they deserved.
- The wife’s performance: She’s talented, no doubt. But after watching Shin perform jaw-dropping tricks, her sleight of hand came off as underwhelming. Her aerial ring routine was decent but didn’t feel Vegas-level spectacular.

Is the show family-friendly?
Yes, the Shin Lim show is family-friendly, but with a few conditions. Children aged 5 and older are welcome to attend, but anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Keep in mind that every child, no matter their age, needs their own ticket, and lap-sitting is not allowed.
Is the show worth watching?
I would give it an 8/10. If you’re into top-tier magic, Shin Lim is your guy. I still don’t know how those cards kept popping in and out of existence like some glitch in the Matrix.
However, the back-and-forth with Colin Cloud feels a bit choppy, so while the magic is worth it, the flow isn’t flawless.
How Long Is The Show?
The Shin Lim show lasts 90 minutes without an intermission.
Shin Lim: Tips & tricks
Where To Sit
- Section 102 (center): When I went to see Shin Lim, I found Section 102 to be the gold mine for seating. Aim for Row H or closer, and you’ll catch every card flip and flourish without missing a beat. Trust me, seeing his performance is totally worth the $99 to $129 ticket.
- Sections 101 & 103: If you’re cool with a slightly angled view, Sections 101 and 103 aren’t bad at all. Stick to seats near the main aisle for a great vantage point, plus you’ll save a bit with prices around $79 to $99.
- VIP seats: Now, if you’re feeling like splurging, go VIP. For $129, you get primo seats smack in the middle and a meet-and-greet with Shin Lim himself.
